What's On at Gloria Jeans

Gloria Jeans

Do you have a coffee shop you are so loyal to that it seems like cheating if you go somewhere else? We do too. It’s no secret that we love our coffee in Australia – some may even call us ‘coffee snobs’?! Our go to coffee shop is no other than Gloria Jeans, located in Forrest Chase at 2/166 Murray Street in Perth CBD. The shop, spoilt by its regular clients who come in every day for their caffeine fix, have been working (and brewing) around the clock to provide Perth CBD with the best coffee in town.

With spring now upon us, Gloria Jeans have launched the ‘Cakewich’ which is definitely as exciting as it sounds. It is the Gloria Jeans take on a sandwich crossed with a cake or as Gloria Jeans call it, “a slice of cake on the go”.  These sweet treats are only for a short time and they come in two flavours; Choc Mousse and White Choc Raspberry. Mmm….

If cake isn’t your thing (or you feel like something deliciously sweet and creamy to compliment your ‘cakewich’), try one of Gloria Jeans new Choc Raspberry Lattes. Because Perth weather can be temperamental and no one ever knows if it will be sunshine or sprinkles, Gloria Jeans have introduced the Choc Raspberry Latte in both a hot or cold option. Speaking from experience, both versions are equally as delicious and the sugar hit will keep you buzzing throughout the day!

We know how hard it is to stay motivated throughout the week but now Gloria Jeans have made it much easier to stay on that health bandwagon with the launch of their new Tuscan Veggie Wrap and Chicken Caesar Wrap. So before you start stressing about grilling that chicken or boiling those asparagus stalks five minutes before you need to be walking out the door, just remember that Gloria Jeans has you covered. What is even better is that with the purchase of either wrap, you can rehydrate with sparkling water for only $2. Lunch, tick!

We challenge you to try your luck at designing some latte art as cool as Gloria Jeans own Rie Moustaka. Rie recently took out first place in the Latte Art category at the Australasian Specialty Coffee Association (AASCA) National Championships. It’s fair to say there is a lot happening at Forrest Chase Gloria Jeans with much more to come! In the meantime, become an eSipper Club member and reap awesome benefits such as a free drink on your birthday, exclusive offers and treats plus more. Get sippin’!

The Father’s Day Gift Guide

05 September 2014, by Forrest Chase

If you are looking for something different to get Dad this Fathers Day, look no longer! Forrest Chase is your one stop destination to get THAT special gift. To make your job easier, we have collated a range of different ideas that guarantee you brownie points this Fathers Day!

This durable yet on-trend watch available at Fossil ($249) one of our favorites’ out of the many different styles available. It is masculine, sport-inspired and ensures precise performance. We recommend this gift for the on-the-go Dad who enjoys a Little Creatures after work, Saturday arvo barbeques with his friends and watching the kids play Sunday footy.

For a more practical, every-day gift for Dad, head in to Politix where they have an array of different ties for any occasion. Our pick is the ‘Davis’ Tie ($89), which is 100% silk and reversible! The tie is available in four different colours (‘sky’ is our favourite) and is suitable for the diligent, corporate Dad. No hard-working Dad ever had too many ties! Pair his new tie with the ‘Reeves’ suede shoe ($189), available in both black and navy and Dad will be the best-dressed guy in the office!

Is your Dad one of those culinary geniuses that can be found spending his Saturday slow-cooking lamb and blow torching the top of a lemon meringue pie? Does his Sunday morning consist of he reading the paper at the boutique coffee shop down the road? If so, we recommend the Breville Pro 800 Espresso Machine ($329). He, along with his other kitchen appliances, will love it!

Our last pick is the Pyramid Embossed wallet by Armourdillo ($20 from Live Clothing). It’s a cheaper yet still great option if you need something to compliment other gifts or if Dad is an easy to please kind of guy! Every man needs a wallet so help him out with this great option from Live.

If time is not your friend this Fathers Day, remember all of our retailers offer gift certificates! Instead of opting for socks and underwear, let your father choose his own presents this year and shopping is always a nice bonding activity! So if all else fails, head in to Forrest Chase stores to pick up a gift certificate!

By popular demand…Jamie's recipe #2: Grilled Cajun Prawns, Sweet Potato Mash & Holy Trinity Veg

12 August 2014, by Forrest Chase

Here are the ingredients you’ll need to feed four hungry tummies, all of which can be found at Woolworths City Central...

  • 800g Sweet Potatoes
  • Sea Salt And Freshly Ground Black Pepper
  • 40g Cheddar Cheese
  • 16 Large Raw Shell-On Australian Green King Prawns
  • 3 Cloves Of Garlic
  • 1 Heaped Tablespoon Cajun Seasoning
  • Olive Oil
  • 1/2 A Bunch Of Fresh Thyme
  • 1 Lemon
  • 1 Green Capsicum
  • 1 Red Capsicum
  • 2 Sticks Of Celery
  • 5 Spring Onions
  • 1/2 Fresh Red Chilli
  • 1 Big Handful Of Frozen Corn
  • 1 Teaspoon Sweet Smoked Paprika

Now to make all of the above into a meal fit for a king:

Get the ingredients out. Kettle boiled. Oven grill on high. Food processor (thick slicer). Large lidded pan, high heat. Large frying pan, medium heat.

  1. Wash the sweet potatoes and slice them in the processor. Put them into the lidded pan with a pinch of salt, cover with boiling water and the lid. It sounds good already right?!

Put the prawns into a roasting tray, squash over the unpeeled garlic through a garlic crusher, then toss with the Cajun seasoning, 1 tablespoon of oil and the thyme sprigs.

Spread out in a single layer and pop on a high heat for a couple of minutes to crisp the bottoms of the prawns up, then place under the grill until the tops are sizzling, golden and crispy!

  2. Deseed and roughly chop the capsicums and throw them into the frying pan with about 1 tablespoon of oil. Trim and slice the celery, spring onions and chilli, and add to the pan along with the sweetcorn and paprika. Season with salt and capsicums and we highly recommend you keep things moving!

  3. When cooked through, drain the sweet potatoes in a colander. Return to the pan and mash well. Grate in the cheese, mix well and season to taste. Scatter the veg over the mash and serve with the crispy prawns and lemon wedges.

Jamie's Tip:

You can use fresh sweetcorn instead of frozen when it’s in season. Griddle the cobs on the barbecue until lovely and charred, stand the cobs on one end and carefully slice off the kernels and mix into the veg to add a lovely smokiness.

Mmmmm…delicious!
