We’re counting down to Spring… and while you begin your spring cleaning, we’re working away at inspiring your new home furnishings!

Beginning with the top left and going clockwise, we have the Laura Ashley Whitstable Lamp with a brass metal birdcage inspired base $199.00 – lighting can make all the difference and can completely transform a room!

Adding so colour is also a simple trick! For the kitchen the 4 set high ball tumblers by Bormioli Roccocan bring a rainbow to the table for just $24.95 (Myer). Made in Italy, the set is generously sized at 490ml so you don't have to constantly refill, and the soft dimpled texture adds a touch of fun. These glasses are dishwasher safe, making cleaning up a breeze!

Spruce up the living room with the Tamali Cushion with Pleat Trim by Morgan and Finch! They come in a range of colours and prints, you can browse the range at Bed Bath n Table ($39.95). In the same way a new quilt cover can reinvent your bedroom design. We love the Denver print by Morgan and Finch again from Bed Bath n Table. Prices range depending on the size.

Does anyone remember Tetris?! Plug in the blue Tetris light block and watch in wonder as each Tetris piece illuminates upon contact. Construct your own combination with 7 individual pieces to ensure endless stacking possibilities. The Tetris stackable LED desk lamp is a fantastic talking point to liven up any room with its colourful iconic design and it’s fun! You’ll find it at Myer for $49.95.

Cook up some fresh recipes with seasonal ingredients in the Maxwell and Williams Grabbers Milk Pan and Lid. Purple perfection for $16.95 at Myer – we can’t ensure the meals will turn out as good as the fresh kitchenware though!

Given that spring is time that flowers bloom we thought it was only logical to invest in a fresh vase to showcase the new gift of nature! The Salt & Pepper Gallery 49cm Blue Glass Bottle $49.95 from Myer works great!

Chop off those flower stems (that are going in the vase of course) with cheer when you use the Debutant 6 mixed steak knives ($69.95 from Bed Bath n Table) and then look for some new and innovative ways to display other household plants, inspire table settings and odd leftover containers with ‘The House Gardener’ from Myer ($49.95). With beautiful photographs and clever tips Isabelle Palmer will show you how to bring the outdoors in. With the increase popularity of DIY and beautifying your home this is a handy and inspiring book to have on the shelf!

Now to the important stuff… refresh yourself! Have a long shower after all that spring cleaning, shopping and innovation and dry off with the Manhattan Towel Range in Peacock! Part of the Jayson Brunsdon Home Collection at Myer, they range from $12.95 to $59.95. We’re sure you probably got engrossed in that process you so best you check the time with the Morgan and Fitch William Smith wall clock on silver, ($179.95 from Bed Bath n Table) cause before you know it… it will be Winter again!

28 July 2014, by Forrest Chase

Miranda Kerr is a style icon for a reason. She’s a yummy mummy who always looks polished and stylish and we can help you recreate the look!

Beginning with the Dash of Colour Shirt from Sportsgirl ($79.95). This classic shirt can be worn with jeans on the weekend or dressed up with a skirt and heels for work! Miranda pulls hers off with Nobody Jeans – yes you can get the exact same pair (believe it) from Live Clothing. They come in a range of shapes and colours so you can find the pair that work for you, however Miranda wears the Cult Skinny Jean (they range from $180).

Keep it classic with a pair of Ballet Flats, like the Camilo’s from Novo Shoes ($39.95 – umm bargain!) and a pair of shades. You’ll find the Prada Voice Sunnies in Black/Grey ($380) from Sunglass Hut, and they have similar styles and a lower price point too.

Now the final touches! OPI Nail Polish in Cajun Shrimp on the digits – a nice shade of flavoursome red with a hint of coral, bound to bring out the pink tones on the shirt (was $19.95 now $14.96 from Myer). Accompanied with the Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volupté Shine Lipstick in Intouchable… doesn’t that sound nice?! It hydrates and softens the lips whilst making your lips POP! ($55 from Myer). You can store that in the Fossil Memoir Pocketbook Crossbody in Light Yellow, originally $ 229 now $ 159.95.

Introducing… Jamie's Hit 'n’ Run Traybaked Chicken!

24 July 2014, by Forrest Chase

Are you sick and tired of your go-to soups and casserole winter warming solutions? Well fret not. Woolworths has teamed up with Jamie Oliver to bring you fresh winter dishes using Australian produce at affordable prices. It was hard to pick just one of the yummy recipes to feature, so this is just one of many delicious treats Woolworths and Jamie can help you deliver. Introducing… Jamie's Hit 'n’ Run Traybaked Chicken!

What will you need to serve four empty belly’s?

  • 4 large ripe tomatoes
  • 2 red onions
  • 1 red capsicum
  • 1 yellow capsicum
  • 6 skinless, boneless free-range chicken thighs
  • 4 cloves of garlic
  • ½ a bunch of fresh thyme
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil and last but not least…
  • 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar.

All of which you’ll find at Woolworths (City Central?) of course!

Now how to turn those ingredients into a scrumptious feast…

  1. Preheat the oven to 180ºC. Quarter the tomatoes and place them in a large baking dish or roasting tray (roughly 25cm x 30cm). Peel the onions and cut into large wedges, then de seed and roughly chop the capsicums. Add all these to the tray along with the chicken thighs.
  2. Squash the unpeeled garlic cloves with the back of your knife and add to the tray, then pick over the thyme leaves and sprinkle over the paprika. Add the oil, balsamic and a good pinch of salt and pepper. Toss everything together really well to coat, then spread across the tray, making sure the chicken isn't covered by the vegetables. Roast for around 1 hour, or until the chicken is golden and cooked through, turning and basting it a couple of times during cooking with the juices from the tray.
  3. Serve the traybake with a lovely green salad on the side. You could also buddy it up with a little rice, polenta or a loaf of crusty bread to mop up the juices YUM!

A little tip from Jamie…Roasting garlic cloves whole in their skins makes them really sweet – don't waste that lovely soft flesh, squeeze it out and enjoy it!
